Veal sauce with rice
Delicious Veal Sauce Recipe with Rice
In this article, I will present you with a simple and quick recipe for veal sauce with rice that will turn any meal into a true culinary celebration. This savory dish is perfect for a family dinner, and the combination of tender meat and aromatic rice will surely delight your little Teo or anyone else. Let's get started!
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Total time: 50 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 300 g veal (preferably shoulder)
- 100 g rice
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1 medium onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 glass of warm water or strained meat broth
- 5 tablespoons of homemade tomato sauce with peppers (or diluted tomato paste)
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of vinegar
- Spices: salt, pepper, dried thyme, Kotanyi Provençal spice mix
- A pinch of butter
- Fresh parsley leaves for decoration
Step-by-step preparation:
1. Preparing the meat: Start by cleaning the meat of any skin and cutting it into cubes. This step is essential for achieving a tender and uniform texture. Place the meat cubes in a large bowl.
2. Marinating the meat: Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, salt, pepper, and your favorite spices, along with a teaspoon of chopped onion and a sliced clove of garlic. Mix well with your hand (make sure it's well washed) and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the meat marinate in the fridge for an hour to allow the flavors to penetrate well.
3. Preparing the sauce: In a large skillet, add 3 tablespoons of oil and sauté the finely chopped onion until it turns golden. Then, add the marinated meat cubes and fry them for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently for even browning.
4. Adding the vegetables: At this point, you can add the 1/2 diced red bell pepper and the remaining garlic, sliced. Continue cooking for 3-5 minutes, stirring to combine the flavors.
5. Including the tomato sauce: Add the homemade tomato sauce with peppers to the skillet. If you don't have homemade sauce, you can use store-bought tomato paste diluted with a little water. Mix well and let it simmer on low heat. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can add a few tablespoons of water or strained meat broth.
6. Finalizing the sauce: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add a tablespoon of flour (I don't recommend it, as it will be served with fluffy rice). Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes until the meat is tender.
7. Preparing the rice: In a separate pot, wash the rice in 2-3 waters to remove excess starch. Then, bring it to a boil in water (1 part rice and 2 parts water). Add a pinch of salt and, towards the end, a pinch of butter to give it a rich flavor. When the rice is cooked, turn off the heat and leave it covered.
8. Serving: On a platter, place the hot rice and pour the veal sauce over it. Garnish with fresh parsley leaves for an extra touch of color and flavor.
Serving suggestion: You can accompany this dish with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables to add a crunchy contrast.
This veal sauce with rice recipe is not only simple but also extremely versatile. You can experiment by adding vegetables such as carrots or zucchini, or you can replace the veal with chicken or turkey for an equally delicious variation. Try this recipe and enjoy the flavors!
