Oven-roasted turkey thigh with orange and lemon
To prepare a delicious and savory dish, we will start by cutting the chicken thighs into slices of about 2 cm, being careful to keep the bone, which will add extra flavor to the dish. The onion is chopped finely, and the garlic is crushed, releasing its intense aromas. The next step is to squeeze the oranges and lemon, obtaining fresh juices that will enhance the taste of the meat.
In a pan, heat 100 ml of oil, and fry the meat slices on both sides until they turn golden and form an appetizing crust. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to a medium temperature, around 180 degrees Celsius, to be ready to receive our dish.
After the meat has been fried, it is seasoned with salt and pepper to taste, then carefully placed in a heat-resistant dish, ideal for oven cooking. In the oil in which we fried the thighs, add the onion and garlic and sauté over low heat, stirring constantly, until the onion becomes glassy and fragrant. The onion and garlic mixture is poured evenly over the meat slices in the baking dish.
For an extra flavor boost, sprinkle paprika, rosemary, and add a bay leaf. Now, it's time to enrich the dish with a delicious sauce: pour in 200 ml of tomato puree, the juice of the oranges and lemon, as well as 250 ml of meat broth, to obtain a rich and aromatic mixture. If you want a more generous sauce, you can opt for 400 ml of broth, as I did, to achieve a more abundant and tasty sauce.
The dish with meat and sauce is placed in the preheated oven and left to bake for about 50 minutes. Halfway through the baking time, it is important to turn the meat slices to ensure even cooking and to achieve a nicely browned crust on both sides. Once the baking time is up, you will notice how the meat has tenderized and filled with delicious aromas.
To serve, I warmly recommend a creamy mashed potato, which will perfectly complement our dish. Beautifully arranged on the plate, with the rich sauce on top, this dish will surely become the star of the meal. Enjoy your meal!
