The dough is the perfect base for a delicious and versatile cake. Start by preparing the dough, which will be divided into three equal parts. These portions will be baked on the back of the tray to obtain thin and crispy layers. It is important to prepare all your ingredients before starting, so that the cooking process goes as smoothly as possible.

After baking the three layers, you will be amazed by their light texture and perfect consistency. The layers are versatile enough to allow for filling with any type of cream you desire. Personally, I opted for a delicious caramel cream with ground nuts, which adds a rich flavor and a special aroma.

To prepare the cream, start by caramelizing the sugar. It is recommended to use a heavy-bottomed pan to prevent the sugar from burning. Once the sugar has turned into a golden caramel, take another bowl and mix about 6 tablespoons of flour with water or milk, depending on your preferences. This mixture will help bind the ingredients and provide a creamy consistency.

Add the flour and water mixture over the caramelized sugar on low heat. It is essential to stir constantly to prevent lumps from forming. After adding the remaining flour gradually, continue stirring until the mixture thickens well. This process may take a few minutes, but patience will pay off!

Once the cream has reached the desired consistency, let it cool slightly until it becomes warm. This is the ideal time to add the margarine, mixing well to obtain a smooth and homogeneous cream. Finally, add the ground nuts, which will provide a crunchy texture and a delicious taste.

After preparing the cream, it’s time to assemble the cake. Place one layer on a platter, spread an even layer of cream, then add the second layer. Continue this process until all three layers are filled and stacked. At the end, place a weight on top of the cake to press it down, so that all the flavors integrate perfectly.
