To prepare delicious English muffins, it is important to have the essential ingredients at hand and to follow the steps carefully. Depending on the shape you choose, you can get 9 normal-sized muffins or up to 15 smaller muffins, perfect for enjoying at breakfast or as a snack.

The first step is to sift the flour and salt together, ensuring that the ingredients are well combined. Place the mixture in a deep bowl and create a well in the center of the flour. In another container, mix 150 ml of warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let this mixture sit for a few minutes until the yeast becomes active and frothy. Then, add the remaining milk and melted butter or, alternatively, oil, mixing the composition well.

Pour the liquid mixture over the flour and start kneading; you will notice how an elastic and soft dough forms. This process should take between 5 and 6 minutes. Once the dough is well kneaded, cover it with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume.

After the dough has risen, knead it again, then roll it out into a sheet about 1 cm thick. Using a round cookie cutter, cut circles from the dough. Place them on a floured tray and, to achieve an ideal texture, sprinkle rice flour or semolina on top. Cover the muffins again and let them rise for 20-30 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the electric griddle or a larger non-stick pan, which you will grease with a minimal amount of oil. When hot, place the muffins and bake them for 7 minutes on each side, ensuring that the temperature is moderate for even baking.

Once the muffins are baked, transfer them to a rack, where you will let them cool. They are ideal for a savory breakfast, being used to prepare eggs Benedict, toasted with butter and jam, or delicious sandwiches with ham, cheese, and fruit. The possibilities are endless, and each variation will bring a splash of joy to every morning. Enjoy them with pleasure!
