Candies Made from Dried Fruits
The recipe we propose is a healthy and flavorful delicacy, perfect for enjoying as a snack or dessert. We begin by rehydrating the dried fruits, an essential step to achieve a pleasant texture and intense flavor. In a large bowl, we add our favorite dried fruits, such as apricots, figs, or raisins, and pour warm water over them, enough to completely cover them. For those who desire a more sophisticated touch, rum can be used instead of water, which will add a subtle flavor and an irresistible aroma. This rehydration stage lasts between 10 and 12 hours, so it's best to let them soak overnight, ensuring they become soft and easy to process.
After the fruits have absorbed the liquid, we move on to the next step. We carefully drain the water from the bowl and place the soft fruits in a blender or meat grinder. It is important to achieve a smooth paste, so we blend until the mixture becomes fine. If the mixture is too thick, we gradually add 1/2 cup of soy milk. This ingredient not only helps with homogenization but also provides extra creaminess and a pleasant taste, ideal for balancing the sweetness of the fruits.
Once we have obtained a uniform mixture, we transfer it to a container and let it cool for about 2 hours. This step is essential as it helps to firm up the mixture, making it easier to shape into balls. After the mixture has cooled sufficiently, we can start forming the balls. With slightly damp hands, we take small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls the size of a walnut.
To give them an attractive appearance and extra flavor, we roll each ball in grated coconut. This outer layer not only adds a crunchy texture but also a sweet taste that perfectly complements the flavor of the fruits. We place the balls on a tray lined with parchment paper and let them cool for another 30 minutes before enjoying them. These energizing balls are not only delicious but also healthy, being rich in nutrients and free from added sugar, making them an excellent choice for any time of the day.
