To prepare these delicious pastries, we start by gathering all the necessary ingredients in a large bowl. It is essential to ensure that all elements are at room temperature to help achieve a homogeneous texture. We carefully mix the ingredients, taking care not to leave any lumps. Then, we gradually add the flour, continuously mixing until we obtain a dough that resembles bread dough. It is important to knead the dough for about 15 minutes, during which gluten develops, providing elasticity and a pleasant texture to the final product.

After kneading, we cover the bowl with a clean towel to prevent the dough from drying out and let it rest on the kitchen counter for 30 minutes. This resting period is crucial as it allows the gluten to relax, facilitating further rolling.

After the resting time has passed, we take the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin on a surface sprinkled with flour, obtaining a sheet about 3-4 mm thick. From this sheet, we cut long strips of 8-10 cm and 3-4 cm wide, which will become our crispy pastries.

In a deep pan, we heat the oil over medium heat, making sure it is hot enough to fry the strips of dough. We carefully introduce the strips of dough into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, as this could lower the oil temperature and lead to uneven frying. We let the pastries fry until they turn golden and crispy, turning them on both sides to ensure they brown evenly.

Once the pastries are ready, we remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. They should be served warm, and for an extra flavor, we dust them with vanilla sugar, which will add a sweet and aromatic note. These pastries are ideal as a dessert or snack and will surely delight both children and adults due to their crispy texture and enticing aroma. Enjoy them alongside a cup of tea or coffee, and savor every bite!
