Garlic Sauce
To prepare a delicious and thick sauce, we will start by gathering all the necessary ingredients and preparing our utensils. In a medium-sized pot, we add a generous amount of oil, preferably olive oil or vegetable oil, which will give a pleasant flavor to our sauce. We heat the oil over medium heat, being careful not to let it smoke, as this will affect the final taste.
Once the oil is heated, we start gradually adding the flour, stirring constantly with a wooden spatula or a whisk. It is essential to homogenize the mixture well to avoid lumps. After a few minutes, when the mixture becomes a uniform paste, we add the crushed or finely chopped garlic. The aroma of the garlic will intensify the sauce, giving it a special taste. We continue to stir for a minute, then remove the pot from the heat.
Now comes an important step: we gradually add water while stirring vigorously. It is important to add the water in a moderate amount, as the sauce can thicken quickly. It is recommended to use about two glasses of water, but of course, the amount may vary depending on the type of flour used and the desired consistency. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add more water; if you want something thicker, reduce the amount.
After we have mixed the ingredients well and there are no lumps, we put the pot back on the heat. We let the sauce simmer on low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens according to our preferences. The process can take between 5 and 10 minutes, so be patient and don’t forget to taste the sauce from time to time. In the end, we add salt to taste, being careful not to overdo it, especially if the sauce will be served alongside boiled meat or mashed potatoes, which may already contain salt.
This versatile sauce can be enjoyed not only with boiled meat but also with pasta, sautéed vegetables, or even as a dressing for salads. It is easy to prepare and adds a touch of flavor to any meal. So, get ready to impress family and friends with this delicious sauce that will surely become a favorite!
