Summer peach and blackberry smoothie

This summer peach and blackberry smoothie with melon is thick and creamy, with the fruit blended smooth. The melon keeps it sweet, while the yogurt and chia give it body without hiding its purple color. I make it just before breakfast; the deep purple of the blackberries is the detail I like most. Prep: 9 minutes. Cook: 0 minutes. Total time: 9 minutes. Servings: 4. Approximately 110 kcal and 3 g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 140 g blackberries
- 2 slices of melon (200 g)
- 4 medium peaches (600 g)
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Preparation
1. Wash the blackberries and peaches. Slice one peach for garnish, cut the other three into pieces, and dice the melon. Allow 8 minutes. 2. Put the blackberries, peach pieces, and melon in a blender. Blend for 45 seconds, until smooth. 3. Add the Greek yogurt and chia seeds, then blend for another 15 seconds. Pour the smoothie into 4 glasses and garnish with the peach slices.
Notes
It’s best served right away; if you make it a little ahead, keep it in the fridge and give it a quick stir before pouring, as the chia seeds absorb some of the liquid. At breakfast, you can serve it with a slice of toast. Greek yogurt contains dairy; for a dairy-free version, use 1 tablespoon of plain plant-based yogurt. Choose soft, ripe peaches that are easy to cut and blend without leaving hard pieces. If the melon is very juicy, the smoothie will be thinner; use two thicker slices, not thin ones. The chia thickens it as it sits, so don’t leave it too long before serving.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use nectarines instead of peaches?
Yes, use 4 medium nectarines and leave the skin on. The flavor will be similar, and the flesh blends just as well.
Why can I feel the chia seeds in the smoothie?
Chia doesn’t break down completely when blended; for a more even texture, blend for another 20 seconds.
Can I replace the melon with watermelon?
Yes, use 200 g of seedless watermelon. The smoothie will be a little thinner.
Can I use frozen blackberries?
Yes, put 140 g straight into the blender. The drink will be colder and thicker, and blending may take another 10 seconds.
