To prepare a delicious recipe for gratin eggs, we start by boiling hard-boiled eggs. Choose a suitable pot, fill it with cold water, and carefully add the eggs. Let them boil for about 8 minutes, then transfer them to a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, peel them and slice them into thin rounds, being careful to get even slices for a nice presentation.

In another pot, bring the milk to a boil, being careful not to let it boil too hard. Meanwhile, in a pan, melt ½ of the butter until it becomes liquid. Add the flour and lightly brown it, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Once the flour is lightly golden, start gradually adding the hot milk while stirring vigorously. Continuing to stir, add the grated Parmesan or cheese, then the melted cheese, seasoning with salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste. Keep the mixture on low heat until the cheese completely melts, then set the sauce aside to cool slightly.

In a separate pan, add the remaining butter and sauté the chopped onion and pepper until soft and fragrant. Once cooled, add them to the cheese sauce along with the crushed garlic and chopped herbs. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Prepare a heat-resistant dish, lightly grease it with butter, and pour the sauce evenly into it. Arrange the egg rounds on top of the sauce, making sure to distribute them evenly. Gently shake the dish to allow the sauce to cover the egg slices. Sprinkle a generous layer of grated Parmesan or cheese on top to achieve that appetizing crust.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish inside for 15-20 minutes, or until a golden crust forms on top. It is important to watch closely to avoid burning. Once you achieve that tempting color, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Serve the gratin eggs while warm, sprinkled with freshly ground pepper and finely chopped parsley for a fresh taste. This dish pairs wonderfully with a seasonal salad or pickles, adding extra flavor to the meal. Enjoy every bite, savoring the rich flavors and creamy texture of the cheese sauce. Bon appétit!
