Green beans, known as pods, are a savory and healthy ingredient, perfect for creating a tasty and nutritious dish. The first step in preparing this dish is to clean the pods. Cut the tails off the ends and make sure to wash them well under a stream of cold water to remove any impurities. This step is essential to achieve a fresh and clean taste.

In a high-walled pan, add a few tablespoons of olive oil or sunflower oil, depending on your preferences. Allow the oil to heat over medium heat, then add the finely chopped onion. Sauté the onion for a few minutes until it becomes translucent and releases its sweet aroma. This step will not only add a flavor note to the dish but will also create a delicious base for the pods.

Once the onion is properly sautéed, add the cleaned pods to the pan and gently mix them with the onion. Then, pour enough warm water to cover the ingredients. Cover the pan with a lid and let the dish simmer on low heat. This way, the pods will gradually soften, becoming tender and full of flavor. It is important to check occasionally and stir gently to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

After about 15-20 minutes, when the pods have started to soften, add the freshly chopped dill, which will bring a distinct and fresh flavor to the dish. Don't forget to add salt to taste. Continue to simmer the mixture, being careful not to leave too much water, as you want to achieve a pleasant consistency. If you notice that the water is reducing too quickly, you can add a little more liquid, but without overdoing it.

Finally, when the water has reduced and the pods are fully cooked, turn off the heat and let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving. This dish can be enjoyed warm, alongside a serving of polenta or as a side dish to various meat dishes.
