Honey and Cinnamon Dumplings
Dumplings are a traditional dish, appreciated by many cultures, and our recipe promises a perfect taste and a fluffy texture. We start by preparing the basic ingredients: 500 grams of flour, 300 grams of cottage cheese, 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, and a bit of water if necessary. These are the fundamental ingredients to obtain delicious dumplings that will melt in your mouth.
Step 1: In a large bowl, we combine the flour with the salt. We add the cottage cheese and eggs, mixing well until we obtain a homogeneous dough. If the dough is too dense, add a few tablespoons of water until it becomes easy to shape. After obtaining the dough, we form small balls the size of a walnut.
Step 2: In a large pot, we bring water to a boil, adding a tablespoon of salt. When the water starts to bubble, we add the dumplings one by one, being careful not to overcrowd them. Each dumpling will rise to the surface when it's ready, which takes about 5-7 minutes. After they have floated, we remove them with a spatula and let them drain in a colander.
Step 3: In a skillet, we heat 50 grams of lard (or butter, according to preference). Once it has completely melted, we add the dumplings and keep them on the heat for 1-2 minutes, gently stirring to coat them evenly with fat, giving them a special taste and aroma.
Step 4: Another essential step is preparing a fragrant sauce based on milk. We take 500 milliliters of milk and heat it over low heat. We add 2-3 tablespoons of honey, continuously stirring until the honey is completely dissolved and the milk becomes slightly warm.
Step 5: In a greased baking dish, we transfer the dumplings, then evenly pour the sweetened milk sauce over them. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish in the oven. We let the dumplings bake for 20-25 minutes, until the milk reduces and a lightly browned crust forms on top.
In the end, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. These dumplings with milk and honey sauce are perfect as a dessert or as a main dish, bringing a touch of nostalgia in every bite. Enjoy your meal!
