Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 12-15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Number of servings: 20 cookies
Ingredients:
- 250 g flour
- 100 g butter, at room temperature
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- Colored sugar or icing for decoration (optional)
Preparation:
1. Preparing the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Use an electric mixer to mix them until you achieve a fluffy cream, for about 3-4 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well combined.
2. Incorporating the Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and all the spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger). These will add a special and fragrant taste to your cookies. Gradually start adding the flour mixture to the butter cream, mixing with a spatula or with the mixer on low speed.
3. Forming the Dough: Once the ingredients are well incorporated, form a ball from the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let the dough chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. This step is essential for achieving crispy and easily moldable cookies.
4. Shaping the Cookies: Preheat the oven to 180°C. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into an even sheet about 5 mm thick. Use a leaf-shaped cutter (or any shape you prefer) to cut out the cookies. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Baking the Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are slightly golden around the edges. Allow them to cool on a wire rack.
6. Decorating (optional): If you want to add a splash of color, you can decorate them with colored sugar or a simple icing made from powdered sugar mixed with a little water.
Serving Suggestions:
These autumn cookies are perfect to enjoy alongside a cup of tea or coffee. You can serve them at a Halloween party, at a gathering with friends, or simply as a delicious snack for you and your family.
Variations:
If you want to add another level of flavor, try replacing some of the flour with almond flour or adding chopped nuts for extra crunch. You can also experiment with different spices, such as cloves or cardamom, to customize the flavor of your autumn cookies.
These autumn leaf-shaped cookies are not just a treat for the taste buds but also a wonderful way to celebrate the beauty of the season. I invite you to make them and enjoy the flavors and colors of autumn!
I mixed the butter, egg, sugar, vanilla essence, added the flour together with the baking powder and cinnamon. Then I kneaded a dough which I divided into three pieces. I used liquid food coloring since I had no other, but gel or powder coloring can also be used. It is left in the refrigerator for an hour (it works easier). From the three balls, I made smaller balls which I placed next to each other. I cut out the leaves. Before putting them in the oven, I place them in the refrigerator for half an hour at 180°C for 10-12 minutes, depending on each oven before being put in the oven. Enjoy your meal!
