Stuffed Watermelon
To prepare a delicious and refreshing dessert, we will use watermelon and rice cooked in milk, turning it into a true culinary masterpiece. The first step is to ensure that the watermelons are well chilled, so we will keep them in the refrigerator for a few hours before starting the preparation. This will add an extra touch of freshness to our dessert.
We start with the rice, which we wash well under a stream of cold water to remove the excess starch. After washing it, we put it to boil in boiling water, to which we add a teaspoon of salt. It is important to cook the rice only halfway, so that it remains slightly firm, in order to maintain its shape in the final dish. Meanwhile, we bring the milk to a boil in a separate pot; when it starts to boil, we add the previously boiled rice.
We let the mixture simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the milk thickens and the rice absorbs most of the liquid. When the composition is almost ready, we add sugar to taste and vanilla sugar packets, to give a sweet and aromatic flavor. We continue to let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, then we remove it from the heat and let it cool.
Meanwhile, we take care of the watermelon. We will cut a thicker slice for each serving, and then we will carefully scoop out the flesh from the inside, making sure to leave a thin layer of pulp on the sides, to form a natural "bowl". The scooped flesh will be cut into small cubes and added to the rice cooked in milk, gently mixing to integrate all the ingredients.
Once we have achieved a homogeneous composition, we fill the watermelon slices with this delicious filling. It is important to ensure that each slice is well filled, so that we can enjoy every bite. After we finish filling all the slices, we will place them on a platter and let them chill completely to allow the flavors to meld together.
Before serving, we can add a topping of melted chocolate or vanilla sauce on top, to beautify and enhance the flavor of the dessert. This dish is not only an excellent choice for hot days, but also a dessert that impresses with its appearance and taste. Enjoy each serving and delight in the perfect combination of sweet, refreshing, and creamy!
