To prepare a delicious coffee granita, start by gathering all the necessary ingredients. You will need water, sugar, freshly brewed coffee, and optionally, a liqueur to enhance the dessert's flavor. In a medium saucepan, add 500 ml of water along with 200 g of sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves in the water. It is important not to let the mixture boil too hard, just to reach the boiling point, so as not to alter the flavors.

Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and add 200 ml of strong coffee, preferably espresso, to achieve an intense flavor. Mix the composition well and put it back on the heat, allowing it to simmer gently for about 5 minutes. This step is essential as it allows the coffee flavors to blend perfectly with the sugar. After the time has expired, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. If you wish to add liqueur for a touch of sophistication, now is the ideal time. You can opt for a coffee liqueur or another variety that you like.

After the mixture has cooled, take a plastic mold, ideal for freezing, and pour the coffee mixture into it. Make sure the mold is not filled to the brim, leaving a little space, as the mixture will expand as it freezes. Place the mold in the freezer and wait for about an hour. After this interval, you will notice that the granita has begun to freeze at the edges. It is time to intervene with a fork! Using it, start scraping the surface so that the ice breaks into fine pieces.

Once you have obtained a fluffy texture, put the granita back in the freezer. Repeat this scraping process two more times at one-hour intervals to ensure a light and pleasant granita. In the end, you will have a refreshing dessert, perfect for hot summer days or to impress guests at a party. Serve the granita in elegant cups and decorate with coffee beans or mint leaves, thus adding a touch of refinement. Enjoy every spoonful of this delicacy that combines the intense aroma of coffee with the slightly crystalline texture of ice!
