Christmas Tender Cookies
To prepare these delicious cookies, we will start by ensuring that all the ingredients are at room temperature. It is essential for the margarine to be soft, so that it can easily incorporate into the mixture. Therefore, we take a large bowl and add the soft margarine along with the sugar. Using a mixer, we will mix these two ingredients at maximum speed until the mixture becomes smooth and fluffy. We continue by adding the vanilla essence and the eggs, one at a time, ensuring that each egg is well incorporated before adding the next.
After obtaining a fine mixture, we take care of the dry ingredients. In another bowl, we mix the flour with the starch to achieve a finer texture for the dough. We gradually add the flour mixture to the margarine mixture, mixing at a lower speed, just until the ingredients come together. It is important not to mix too much, as the dough could become too elastic.
Once the ingredients are combined, we place the dough on a floured surface. Here we will gently knead the dough until it becomes homogeneous. We must not get carried away; the kneading should be gentle so that the dough remains tender. After we finish kneading, we form a ball from the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap. We let it chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, which will help firm up the dough and make rolling it out much easier.
After the time has passed, we take the dough out of the refrigerator and prepare to roll it out. On a floured surface, we roll the dough into a thin sheet, about 0.5 cm thick. Using cookie cutters, we cut out various shapes from the dough. These can be hearts, stars, or anything else that inspires our creativity.
We place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them, as they will expand slightly while baking. We preheat the oven to a moderate temperature and bake the cookies for about 15 minutes, until they turn golden at the edges.
After taking them out of the oven, we let them cool slightly, then we can decorate them with powdered sugar or other favorite toppings such as melted chocolate or ground nuts. These cookies are not only delicious but also a visual delight. Enjoy!
