Mixed Salad
To prepare a delicious and healthy salad, we start by selecting fresh ingredients. Green lettuce, whether it's romaine or iceberg, is the perfect base for this recipe. After choosing the lettuce, we rinse it well under a stream of cold water to remove any impurities. Then, we let it drain on a kitchen towel or in a salad spinner, so it doesn't affect the consistency of the final dish.
Once the lettuce is well dried, we chop it finely. This will create a pleasant texture when combined with the other ingredients. We continue with the boiled eggs. In a pot, we place them in cold water and let them boil for about 10 minutes. Once they are ready, we rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process and peel them. Then, we cut them into small cubes, so they integrate perfectly into the salad.
Cheese, preferably feta or telemea, adds extra flavor. We cut it into cubes similar to those of the eggs, so that each bite is a delicious mix of flavors. Radishes, with their crunchy texture and slightly spicy taste, are also chopped finely, adding a pleasant contrast to the salad.
Now it’s time to add the tuna, which we choose from a can, drained of oil. The tuna will provide a source of protein and enrich the flavor of the dish. We also chop the tomatoes, which can be cherry or regular tomatoes, into cubes, bringing a splash of color and freshness to the salad.
In a large bowl, we combine all the ingredients: lettuce, eggs, cheese, radishes, tuna, and tomatoes. We then add salt to taste, to enhance the flavors, and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, which will add a touch of finesse and bind all the ingredients together. We mix gently so as not to crush the delicate ingredients, but to ensure that each component is evenly coated with oil and salt.
Our salad is now ready to be served! We can garnish it with a few fresh parsley leaves or toasted pumpkin seeds for an added crunch. This salad not only looks appetizing but is also an excellent choice for a light lunch or a healthy dinner. Enjoy it alongside a slice of whole grain bread or a serving of croutons, and your meals will truly become memorable!
