To prepare this culinary delight, start by ensuring you have all the necessary ingredients at hand. You will need 300 grams of flour, 1 egg, a pinch of salt, warm water, and for an extra flavor, lard or butter. If you want to add a touch of originality, you can use mozzarella or sheep cheese, as well as slices of galbanino or other melted cheeses that will soften quickly during cooking.

Start by preparing the dough. In a bowl, put the flour and add the egg, salt, and a little warm water. Mix the ingredients until you obtain a homogeneous composition, then add the lard or melted butter, continuing to knead. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth. It is important that the dough is well kneaded, as this will give it the desired texture. Once you are done, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

During this time, you can prepare the filling. Grate the chosen cheese and mix it with grated orange peel, which will add a fragrant and fresh note to your dish. After the dough has rested enough, sprinkle a little flour on the work surface and roll it out into a thin sheet. It is recommended to work carefully to avoid breaking the dough.

Once you have obtained the thin sheet, place the cheese filling on one half of the dough. Then cover with the other half of the sheet and press well on the edges to seal the filling. You can use a crinkled wheel or a special disc to cut the dough into desired shapes, whether they are circles, triangles, or squares.

Heat the oil in a deep pan and, when it is hot enough, carefully add the stuffed dough pieces. Fry them on each side until they become golden and crispy. After removing them from the pan, let them drain on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.

To serve, heat a little honey until it becomes liquid and pour it over the fried dishes. Although it seems like a dessert, this dish is actually a savory main course. Enjoy it warm, alongside your loved ones, and savor the unique combination of cheese with orange flavor, enveloped in crispy dough, accompanied by the sweetness of honey. It is a unique culinary experience that is worth trying!
