To create a delicious and comforting dish, let's start with the necessary ingredients: 1 medium onion, 1 bell pepper (preferably red for an extra splash of color), 2 carrots, 500 g minced meat (preferably beef or a mix of beef and pork), 500 g potatoes, 50 g margarine, 2 tablespoons of oil, 1 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1 teaspoon of dried thyme, 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika, salt to taste, and water.

The first step is to prepare the vegetables. We peel the onion and cut it into julienne, meaning thin strips. Then, we wash the bell pepper, remove the seeds and stem, and cut it into julienne as well. We peel the carrots and cut them into cubes of about 1 cm. In a large skillet, we heat the oil over medium heat and add the chopped onion and bell pepper. We sauté them for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until they become slightly translucent.

After the vegetables have softened, we add the minced meat. We continue to sauté everything for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Once the meat is browned, we season the mixture with ground pepper, thyme, and sweet paprika, and then we deglaze everything with 2 tablespoons of still water. We let it simmer for 10 minutes, so the flavors combine perfectly.

Meanwhile, we take care of the potatoes. We peel the potatoes, wash them well in cold water, and cut them into cubes of about 2 cm. We boil the potatoes in a pot with water and a pinch of salt, making sure to cover them completely with water. We let them boil until they become soft, which will take about 15-20 minutes. It is important to skim the foam that forms on the surface to achieve a smooth and creamy puree.

Once the potatoes are boiled, we drain them and mash them using a potato masher. We add the margarine and a pinch of salt, then mix well. To achieve a finer consistency, we gradually add the two tablespoons of water in which the potatoes were boiled, stirring continuously.

In a baking dish, we evenly layer the meat and vegetable mixture, and on top, we spread the potato puree, creating a generous layer. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish in for about 20 minutes, until the puree develops a slight golden crust.
