Cauliflower gratin with potatoes and sausage
To prepare a delicious baked dish, we start by gathering the necessary ingredients. We will need potatoes, cauliflower, sausages, bell peppers, cheese, sour cream, eggs, milk, dill, cheese, parsley, breadcrumbs, and of course, margarine. The first step is essential to ensure that all ingredients are properly prepared.
We begin by boiling the potatoes in their skins, in salted water, so they retain their flavor and texture. We let them boil until they become soft, but we don't overdo it to avoid them breaking apart. Meanwhile, we prepare the cauliflower, which we will also boil in salted water. This will add a touch of freshness and a delicate flavor to our dish. When both vegetables are boiled, we drain them and let them cool a bit, then we slice the potatoes into round pieces, like little rounds.
Now we prepare the baking tray. We grease the bottom and sides with margarine, making sure it will prevent the ingredients from sticking. Then, we line the tray with breadcrumbs, which will give the dish a crispy texture. We start arranging the ingredients in the prepared tray. We place a layer of potatoes, then we add the cauliflower. Next are the sausages cut into rounds, diced bell peppers, and cheese, which will add a rich flavor. Finely chopped parsley is sprinkled on top to provide an extra touch of flavor and color.
We continue to repeat these layers until we have used all the ingredients. Finally, we add the freshly chopped dill and grated cheese, which will melt nicely in the oven, creating an appetizing crust. In a separate bowl, we beat the eggs with milk and add our favorite spices, such as salt, pepper, and maybe even a pinch of nutmeg for a more complex flavor. The egg and milk mixture will be poured evenly over the entire composition in the tray, ensuring a perfect binding of the ingredients.
Now, the oven should be preheated to 180 degrees Celsius. We place the tray in the oven and let the dish bake for about 30 minutes. You will notice how the cheese melts and turns golden, and the flavors blend perfectly. Once the time is up, we carefully take the tray out of the oven.
