Apple Pouches – a quick and delicious dessert
If you are looking for a simple and effective recipe for a dessert that delights the taste buds, apple pouches are the perfect choice. Ingredients:
- 1 package of pastry sheets
- 7-8 apples (preferably sweet and aromatic varieties)
- 300 g granulated sugar
- 200 ml oil (you can use sunflower or olive oil)
- 2-3 tablespoons of margarine
- 2 eggs
- Cinnamon (to taste)
- Raisins (optional, but recommended)
- Coconut (for an exotic finish)
Preparation:
1. Preparing the apples: Start by peeling the apples and removing the cores. Cut them into cubes or thin slices. Place them in a small pot, add 100 g of sugar and enough water to cover them. Boil over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until they soften but do not turn into puree. After boiling, drain well and let them cool.
2. Preparing the pastry sheets: Cut the pastry sheets into smaller sizes, about 15 cm by 10 cm. Make sure you are working with thawed and slightly elastic sheets to avoid tearing.
3. Forming the pouches: Take 4 pastry sheets and brush them with oil between each. This will add extra crispiness. In the center of each portion of sheets, place a portion of the cooked apples, sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar, a few raisins, a pinch of cinnamon, and a little margarine. Then, gather the corners of the sheets to form a pouch, twisting the top like a shirt collar.
4. Baking the pouches: Place the pouches on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Beat the two eggs and brush each pouch with the beaten egg. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top for a delicious caramelization. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes or until golden and crispy.
5. Finishing and serving: After the pouches are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Add coconut in the center of each pouch for an exotic taste. Serve them dusted with sugar and cinnamon for an attractive appearance and intense aroma.
