Donuts with Finetti
Yeast dissolves in warm water, an essential step that activates the microorganisms needed to achieve a fluffy and airy dough. It is placed in the center of the flour, where we have created a little well, a sacred place for our ingredients. Here, we add slightly beaten eggs, the sugar that will provide the perfect sweetness, the rich milk that enriches the texture, the oil that gives juiciness, and the flavors that will transform every bite into a memorable taste experience. We start kneading the dough, making sure it doesn't become sticky; an ideal consistency is the key to success. The obtained dough is left to rise in a warm place, where it will grow and double in volume, just as we want it.
After the dough has risen, we roll it out on a clean surface, forming a rectangle as rectangular as possible. We begin to add finetti, a chocolate delight that will melt easily during frying, bringing an irresistible flavor. We distribute a teaspoon of finetti here and there, leaving enough space between them, then cover with the other half of the dough sheet. This is the magic moment when the chocolate aroma will intertwine with the pleasant taste of the dough.
We use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut perfect portions, making sure that each shape contains a little mound of finetti in the middle. This method will not only give us an attractive appearance but also an explosion of flavor in every bite. Once we have finished cutting, we heat the oil in a deep pan. When the oil reaches the ideal temperature, we carefully introduce each portion of dough, frying them until they become golden and crispy. It is important to turn them carefully to ensure even browning.
When they are ready, we take the donuts out of the oil and let them drain on an absorbent napkin to remove excess oil. Finally, we generously sprinkle powdered sugar, adding a touch of magic and sweetness. This recipe can also be adapted for simple or braided versions, without finetti, but each variant will have its charm. So, get ready to enjoy these golden delights, which will surely delight both adults and children!
