Spicy Chicken
To prepare a delicious meat and vegetable dish, we start by ensuring that we have all the ingredients ready and at hand. First, we choose a piece of quality meat, whether it is pork, beef, or chicken, depending on everyone's preferences. We wash the meat well under a stream of cold water and cut it into suitable cubes, then we season it with salt, pepper, sweet paprika, thyme, and other spices we like. It is essential to let the meat absorb the flavors of the spices, so we cover it and let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, we take care of the vegetables. We peel a large onion, which we slice into thin rings, and a bell pepper, which we also slice. Potatoes, the perfect choice to complement the dish, are peeled and cut into equal-sized cubes so that they cook evenly. Garlic, an essential ingredient to add extra flavor, is chopped into small pieces.
In a deep frying pan, we heat a little oil and add the chopped onion, bell pepper, potatoes, and garlic. We sauté them for a few minutes, stirring constantly, until the onion becomes translucent and the vegetables start to soften. Then, we add tomato paste and a pinch of salt, being careful not to overdo it, as the meat will also bring salt to the dish. We let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
After the vegetables have been sautéed, we transfer them to a baking dish, spreading them out evenly. In the same frying pan, we add the seasoned meat and fry it for about 10 minutes, turning it on all sides to brown nicely. Once the meat has developed a tempting crust, we place it on top of the vegetables in the baking dish.
Now, we cover the dish with a lid and transfer it to the oven, setting the temperature to a suitable level. We let the dish cook for about 50 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the meat to become tender. 10 minutes before the end, we remove the lid to allow the meat to form a slightly crispy crust, which will add a special texture to the dish.
In the end, we take the dish out of the oven, let it cool slightly, and then serve it warm, alongside a fresh salad or a side of rice. The intense flavors and combination of textures will turn this recipe into a true feast for the senses. Bon appétit!
