Oven-baked potatoes with sauce
We start preparing this delicious dish with an essential step: preparing the vegetables. Onion and garlic, both finely chopped, are the basic ingredients that will give our dish an intense flavor. We heat a pan with a little oil over medium heat and add the onion. We let it sauté until it becomes translucent, then we add the garlic, being careful not to burn it, as it can become bitter. The aroma of the fried onion combined with that of the garlic will fill the kitchen with an irresistible scent.
After about a minute, we add the finely chopped bell pepper. This will add a note of freshness and a crunchy texture to the dish. We let the mixture fry together for a minute, then we add the sliced sausages. It is important to use good quality sausages that will cook evenly, releasing their flavorful juices. We leave everything on the heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sausages become slightly browned and develop their flavor.
Then, we bring up the tomatoes, which need to be finely chopped and added to the pan. The tomatoes not only bring a fresh taste but also moisture, so we let them simmer gently until the excess juice evaporates and the mixture becomes thicker. Finally, we add our favorite spices: salt, pepper, maybe even a little sweet or hot paprika, depending on everyone's preferences. These will further enhance the flavor of the dish.
In the meantime, we prepare the baking tray. We grease the bottom and sides with a little oil to prevent sticking. We place half of the diced or sliced potatoes, which will serve as the base of the dish. On top of these, we pour half of the delicious sauce we obtained from the vegetables and sausages, making sure it is evenly distributed. We continue with the remaining potatoes, and on top, we add the rest of the sauce.
To add extra flavor, we grate cheese or cheese on top, which will melt beautifully in the oven, creating a golden crust. In a separate bowl, we beat the two eggs well, to which we add freshly chopped dill. This combination will provide a note of freshness and will bind the contents of the dish together. We pour the egg and dill mixture all over, ensuring it spreads evenly.
We place the tray in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius and let it bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until the cheese is browned and the potatoes are well cooked. Finally, we take the tray out of the oven and let the dish cool slightly before serving. It is a hearty and flavorful dish, perfect for a family meal or with friends!
