Ingredients for the base:
- 200 g of flour (preferably whole grain for added nutrients)
- 100 g of brown sugar (which adds a caramelized note)

- 1 packet of baking powder (about 10 g)
- A pinch of salt (to enhance the flavors)
- 200 ml of sparkling water (you can also use soy milk for extra flavor)
- 50 ml of sunflower oil (or coconut oil for an exotic taste)

Preparation method:
1. Start by preheating the oven to 180°C. Make sure you have a cake pan (about 20 cm) lined with baking paper so the base doesn’t stick.
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients well with a whisk to avoid lumps.
3. In another bowl, mix the sparkling water with the oil and vanilla extract. If you wish, add the dried fruits now, to distribute them evenly in the batter.
4. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients and gently mix with a spatula until you obtain a homogeneous composition. Avoid over-mixing to achieve a fluffy cake.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and level the surface. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes. The toothpick test is essential: if the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done.
6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a rack to cool completely.
