Chocolate Sticks for Christmas
We start this delicious chocolate and walnut cookie recipe, a perfect dessert for any occasion. The first step is to ensure that the butter is soft, so we leave it at room temperature for a few hours before we begin. Once the butter is ready, we put it in a large bowl and mix it with powdered sugar until we achieve a creamy and fluffy consistency. This combination will give the cookies a fine texture and a sweet flavor.
Next, we add the finely grated chocolate. It will melt easily during baking and provide the cookies with an intense cocoa flavor. Then we pour in the rum, which will add a note of warmth, and the egg yolk, essential for binding the ingredients. We mix well, ensuring that all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Then, we add cocoa powder and ground walnuts, the ingredients that will enrich the flavor of the cookies. It’s time to start integrating the flour, previously mixed with the baking powder, into the mixture. This step should be done at a low speed to avoid forming lumps. When the dough becomes homogeneous and easy to shape, we stop mixing.
We form a compact ball from the dough, which we wrap in plastic wrap. We let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes, this time being crucial for obtaining crispy and flavorful cookies. After the dough has cooled, we take it out and start forming small sticks about 6-7 cm long and the thickness of a finger. We place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure to leave a distance of 2 cm between them to allow for expansion during baking.
We bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. It’s important to remove them from the tray only after they have completely cooled to prevent them from breaking. Once cooled, we dust them with cocoa for an attractive appearance and a special flavor, then we can choose to glaze them with melted chocolate for a decadent finish.
This dessert is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a true visual feast. The cookies can be served alongside a cup of coffee or tea, making them a perfect choice for a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy!
