The yeast is mixed with 100 ml of warm milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar, then left to sit for 10-15 minutes until it becomes frothy. It is important that the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast without destroying its enzymes. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, sift 500 g of flour, and make a well in the center, into which the yeast mixture is poured. This process is essential to allow the yeast to integrate evenly into the dough.

To the yeast mixture, add 1 egg, 50 ml of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and if desired, 1 tablespoon of powdered milk for extra flavor and a finer texture. Using a spatula or your hands, start incorporating the flour into the wet mixture, forming a dough. When the dough begins to come together, transfer it to a well-floured work surface.

Here, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth. If necessary, add more flour to prevent sticking, but be careful not to overdo it, as a dough that is too dry will lead to an unpleasant texture. Once well-kneaded, shape the dough into a ball and place it in a bowl greased with a little oil, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in volume.

After the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Then, transfer the dough to a work surface and divide it into smaller portions, depending on the desired size of the baked goods. Shape each piece according to your preferences, whether you want rolls, buns, or specific shapes. Place the formed products on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

Before putting them in the oven, brush the surface with a beaten egg for a golden and appetizing crust. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden and sound hollow when tapped lightly on the bottom. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a rack. These baked goods will be perfect to serve warm, alongside various fillings or simply with butter and jam. Enjoy every bite and celebrate the success of the recipe!
