Layered Salad
To prepare this delicious salad, we start by getting our ingredients and necessary utensils ready. The first step is to peel the potatoes. Choose medium-sized potatoes that are firm and free from spots or damage. We carefully peel them, then wash them under a stream of cold water to remove any impurities. After peeling, we place them in a large pot with cold water and a tablespoon of salt. This will not only add flavor to the potatoes but also help maintain their texture. We let them boil over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until they are soft but not mushy. After boiling, we drain the water and let them cool, then cut them into small cubes.
Meanwhile, we take care of the eggs. We place the eggs in another pot, cover them with cold water, and boil them for 10 minutes. This time is perfect for getting hard-boiled eggs. Once the time is up, we immediately transfer them under a stream of cold water, which will make peeling them easier. After they have completely cooled, we peel them and cut them into small cubes, just like the potatoes.
Now we take care of the cheese. We can choose creamy cottage cheese or feta cheese, depending on personal preferences. We grate it using a large grater or cut it into thin strips so that it easily integrates into the salad.
In a large bowl, covered with plastic wrap, we start assembling the salad. The first layer will be a generous layer of mayonnaise, which will provide a rich and creamy taste. Then, we add an even layer of chopped eggs, followed by the prepared cheese. We finish with the diced potatoes, ensuring that each ingredient is well distributed.
After we finish assembling the salad, we cover it again with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator until serving time. This chilling time will allow the flavors to blend and make the salad more flavorful.
When you are ready to serve the salad, carefully invert the bowl onto a flat plate. Gently remove the plastic wrap so that the layers remain intact.
