Breadsticks with Parmesan and Rosemary
To prepare this delicious recipe for snail-shaped bread rolls, we will start by making the dough. You can choose to use a bread machine or knead by hand. In both cases, it is important to follow the steps carefully. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, and sugar, then add warm water and oil. Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous dough. Let it rise in a warm place, covered with a clean towel, for about an hour or until it doubles in volume.
After the dough has risen, gently knead it for a minute to release the air. Divide the dough into three parts: two smaller pieces for the rolls and one larger piece to create the sheet of dough. From that larger piece, roll out a sheet about the thickness of a finger, giving it a rectangular shape. Brush this sheet with a beaten egg to create a golden and appetizing crust. Then sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed. Press lightly so the cheese sticks to the dough, then add salt and dried rosemary, pressing again to integrate the flavors.
Using a knife, cut strips of dough, similar to how you would cut for savory sticks. Take each strip in hand, twist it slightly, and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Once you have arranged all the strips, cover the tray with a clean towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, we take care of the two smaller pieces of dough. We roll them out, form rolls, and shape them into snails. Place each snail in oven-safe molds, covering again with a clean towel to allow them to rise.
After the rising time has passed, preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Place the tray with the sticks and the two molds with the rolls in the oven, allowing them to bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and nicely puffed. The aroma that spreads in the kitchen will be irresistible, and the taste will be just as wonderful. Enjoy these snail-shaped rolls alongside a warm soup or as an appetizer. It is a perfect recipe to impress family and friends, turning any meal into a special moment!
