Meringues
To create a delicious and spectacular dessert, we will use a simple yet impressive recipe based on meringue. This dish will be perfect for impressing guests or adding a touch of sweetness to our days. We start by preparing the necessary ingredients and the right utensils.
The first step is to ensure we have granulated sugar on hand. This will be used to create the base of our meringue. We place the sugar on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, making sure to distribute it evenly. Now, our oven needs to be preheated to the lowest temperature, but we will not put the tray in it yet.
In the meantime, we take care of the egg whites. It is essential that they are fresh and at room temperature to achieve a perfect foam. Using a mixer, we begin to beat the egg whites until they become frothy. Here, patience is key; we need to reach a firm and glossy consistency. When the egg whites start to form soft peaks, we can begin to add the warmed sugar very gradually. We continue to mix at maximum speed so that the hot sugar is completely integrated, and the meringue becomes smooth and shiny.
After achieving an airy and glossy mixture, it is time to transfer it to the previously prepared tray. Using a spatula, we spread the meringue evenly on the parchment paper, forming a desired shape. It can be round, square, or even artistic, depending on our preferences.
Now, the oven is ready to receive the tray with meringue. We place it in the preheated oven with its door open. This step is crucial as it allows moisture to escape, helping the meringue to dry and become crispy on the outside. We let it bake for about two hours without opening the oven door during baking to maintain a constant temperature.
After two hours, the meringue will have a perfect texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We let it cool completely in the oven, then we can decorate it with whipped cream, fresh fruits, or melted chocolate, according to our preferences. Thus, we have an elegant and refined dessert, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy every bite, savoring the combination of flavors and textures!
