Tender crowns with delicious filling

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 25 minutes
Total: 55 minutes
Number of servings: 12 crowns

I propose a recipe for tender crowns, a delight that you can enjoy either at breakfast or as a dessert. These crowns are easy to prepare and will fill your home with an irresistible aroma. With a fluffy texture and a delicious filling, they will surely become your favorites.

Ingredients:
- 500 g wheat flour
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 100 g sugar (divided: 80 g for the dough and 20 g for the filling)
- 250 ml lukewarm milk
- 100 g melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for a fresh taste)
- Filling of your choice (fruit jam, sweet cheese with raisins, melted chocolate)

Instructions:

1. Start by activating the yeast. In a cup, add the fresh yeast, a teaspoon of the total sugar amount, and about 3 tablespoons of lukewarm milk. Stir gently and let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This step is essential for good fermentation, so do not skip it.

2. In a large bowl, sift the flour and add the salt and lemon zest (if you choose to use it). Creating an even mixture will help develop the gluten in the dough, giving it optimal texture.

3. In the center of the flour, make a well and pour in the activated yeast, the rest of the lukewarm milk, melted butter, and the two eggs. Mix the ingredients with a spatula or your hands until you obtain a homogeneous dough.

4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth. You can add a little extra flour if the dough is too sticky. This step is crucial for getting fluffy crowns, so do not rush.

5. Place the dough in a bowl greased with a little oil, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in volume.

6. After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into circles or rings, making sure to leave a small opening in the middle for the filling.

7. Arrange the crowns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 20 minutes.

8. Preheat the oven to 180°C. While the crowns are rising, prepare the chosen filling. For example, if you use sweet cheese, mix the cheese with sugar and a few raisins for a sweet-sour taste.

9. After the second rise, fill each crown with the desired filling, being careful not to overfill, to prevent spilling during baking.

10. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake the crowns for 25 minutes or until golden.

11. After removing them from the oven, you can sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top for a more attractive appearance, as well as for a touch of sweetness.

Serving:
These tender crowns are delicious warm, but they are just as good at room temperature. You can serve them plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

Variations:
- You can experiment with various fillings, such as dark chocolate or ground nuts for a crunchy texture.
- I recommend trying to add spices like cinnamon or vanilla for a more sophisticated taste.

These tender crowns are more than just a simple dessert – they are a culinary experience that will bring joy in every bite. I invite you to try them and impress your family and friends with this simple and delicious recipe!
