To prepare a delicious oven dish that delights the senses, we start with an essential ingredient: onion. Chop a medium onion finely, which will add a rich taste and pleasant aroma to our dish. Heat 50 ml of oil in a large pan, then add the chopped onion. Let it soften over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it becomes translucent. This step is important because the sautéed onion will bring a natural sweetness to the dish. After about 5-7 minutes, add 500 g of minced beef or pork, depending on personal preference. Let the meat brown slightly, stirring occasionally to break it up evenly. After two minutes of browning, add 200 g of broth, salt, pepper, and a little bay leaf powder, adjusting the spices to taste. This mixture will become the delicious base of the dish.

Meanwhile, prepare the potatoes. Boil 800 g of potatoes until soft, then remove them and let them cool slightly. Once cooled, mash them with a fork, being careful to keep some whole for texture. In a baking dish, pour a little of the remaining oil, then add half of the mashed potatoes to the bottom of the dish, forming an even layer. After creating this base, add the layer of minced meat, distributing it evenly to ensure that each portion will have a share of the flavors.

The next step is to add 300 g of cooked spinach, well-drained, which will bring a note of freshness to the dish. Over the spinach, add the remaining mashed potatoes, being careful to spread them evenly. Finally, cover everything with slices of melted cheese, which will create a delicious and golden crust during baking. Decorate the dish with slices of boiled carrots, giving it a touch of color and additional texture. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish inside, allowing it to bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese is nicely gratinated.
