After cleaning them, we break off the stems of the mushrooms, being careful not to leave any remnants. The stems can be used in various recipes, so do not throw them away! Additionally, it is important to remove the gills from inside the mushrooms, which can affect the texture and appearance of the final dish. They can be easily removed with a spoon or a small knife.

Once we have cleaned the mushrooms well, we wash them with cold water. It is recommended to wash them quickly, without leaving them too long in water, as they can absorb the liquid and lose their characteristic flavor. After washing, we place them on a clean towel to dry, ensuring that they will not dilute the sauces or dishes in which they will be used.

Once the mushrooms are clean and dry, we are ready to cook them. They can be sautéed, baked, or added to various dishes such as soups, stews, or grilled preparations. For example, a simple and delicious recipe would be sautéed mushrooms with garlic and parsley. In a frying pan, we heat a little olive oil or butter, add the mushrooms, and let them brown for a few minutes. Then, we add crushed garlic and a little freshly chopped parsley, mixing well to combine the flavors.

For an extra flavor boost, we can add a few drops of lemon juice or a pinch of salt and pepper. This garnish can be served alongside meat, on a slice of toasted bread, or as an ingredient in a fresh salad. Mushrooms, with their meaty texture and umami flavor, are an excellent choice that will delight both vegetarians and meat lovers. Thus, after following the necessary steps, we can enjoy tasty and healthy dishes that bring joy to our table.
