Delicious Brownies – Simple and Quick Recipe

Who doesn't love a delicious, soft, and chocolatey cake? Brownies are a classic dessert that will not only delight your taste buds but are also extremely simple to prepare. This recipe comes from my friend, Antoaneta, and is perfect for a lazy morning when you want to indulge in a piece of cake alongside a flavorful coffee, a warm tea, or even a glass of cocoa with milk. Let's get started!

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 30 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Number of servings: Approximately 24 pieces

Ingredients:
- 200 g butter or margarine
- 500 g sugar
- 150 ml milk
- 4 eggs
- 4 tablespoons of flour
- 4 tablespoons of cocoa
- 1 packet of baking powder
- juice from one lemon

The history of brownies is fascinating. These treats appeared, it seems, at the beginning of the 20th century as a more compact and richer version of cakes. With a moist texture and an intense chocolate flavor, brownies quickly gained popularity and continue to be a beloved dessert worldwide.

Step by step for perfect brownies:

1. Preparing the base mixture: In a pot, add the butter, milk, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa. Heat on low, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to boil. This is the stage where the flavors combine and the butter melts.

2. Preparing the glaze: When the mixture reaches boiling point, turn off the heat and keep about 100 ml of the mixture in a cup. In this cup, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of cocoa and mix well until smooth. This will become our delicious glaze.

3. Cooling and separating the ingredients: Let the remaining mixture cool. Meanwhile, separate the eggs into two bowls: the yolks in one and the whites in another. Sifting the flour is essential to avoid lumps.

4. Combining the ingredients: Once the mixture has cooled, add the yolks one by one, mixing well after each. This is an important moment, as the yolks add richness and texture to the cake. Then, beat the egg whites until frothy and gently fold them into the mixture to maintain airiness. Add the flour and the baking powder mixed with lemon juice for extra fluffiness.

5. Preparing the baking tray: Line a 20x29 cm tray with baking paper. This will prevent the cake from sticking and make cleanup much easier.

6. Baking: Pour the mixture into the tray and level the surface. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius and bake the cake for 30 minutes. Test the cake with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready!

7. Glazing: Once the cake has cooled, pour the glaze on top. You can let the glaze drip slightly over the edges for a rustic and appetizing look.

8. Serving: Cut the cake into squares and decorate as you please: you can add chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or a dusting of powdered sugar on top for an elegant look. Brownies are perfect for serving at a gathering with friends, at a party, or simply as a sweet snack during the day.

Frequently asked questions:

1. Can I replace butter with oil?
Yes, you can use oil instead of butter, but the cake will have a different texture. The oil will make the brownies less dense, but they will still be delicious.

2. What can I use instead of sugar?
If you want a healthier option, you can use honey or natural sweeteners, but adjust the amount according to your preferences.

3. Can I add nuts or chocolate?
Absolutely! Add chopped nuts or chocolate chunks to the mixture for an extra texture and flavor.

4. How can I keep the brownies fresh?
Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature, and for even greater freshness, you can keep them in the fridge.

Nutritional benefits:
Brownies contain calorie-rich ingredients but also essential nutrients. Butter provides healthy fats, while cocoa is rich in antioxidants. Additionally, eggs are an excellent source of protein. Of course, moderation is key, but occasionally, a piece of these brownies can be a delightful indulgence.

Serving suggestions:
Brownies are delicious on their own, but you can pair them with vanilla ice cream or fluffy whipped cream. A strong coffee or cappuccino will perfectly highlight the intense chocolate flavor.

Personalized variant:
An interesting variant would be to add a splash of rum or vanilla essence to the mixture, thus giving it an even more refined taste. You can even experiment with different types of cocoa to achieve the desired flavors.

With this information and steps, you'll become a true expert in making brownies. Now it's time to get cooking and enjoy a dessert that will impress everyone! Enjoy!
