Dumplings with Plum Jam
To create a delicious recipe for plum jam dumplings, we start by preparing the dough. We thaw the dough at room temperature, being careful not to let it completely defrost, to maintain its elasticity. Once the dough is soft, we cut it into squares of about 5x5 cm. These squares will form the base of our dumplings, and the plum jam filling will add a sweet and flavorful note.
In the center of each square, we place a generous teaspoon of plum jam, preferably a thicker jam, such as magiun, which will not run during baking. It is important for the jam to be of good quality, as it will influence the final taste of the dumplings. After adding the jam, we fold the dumplings, bringing the corners of the square towards the center. We gently press the edges to ensure they stick well, thus preventing the filling from leaking.
Once we have formed all the dumplings, we place them in an ungreased baking tray, lightly sprinkled with cold water. This step is essential, as it helps create a humid atmosphere in the oven, which will contribute to achieving a fluffy texture. We preheat the oven to a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. Once the oven is well heated, we place the tray with dumplings and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dumplings turn beautifully golden brown.
It is a real pleasure to watch the dumplings puff up and take on a golden color, a sign that they are ready. After removing them from the oven, it is essential to transfer them immediately to a wire rack to cool. This way, air will circulate around them, preventing condensation that could make the dough soggy. Once cooled, these plum jam dumplings become a perfect snack, suitable for both a festive meal and a sweet treat for everyday indulgence. Serve them alongside a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy every bite!
