Desert - Apple Strudel by Mihaela C. - Recipia
To prepare a delicious apple pie recipe, let's start by gathering the necessary ingredients so that each step is simple and enjoyable. In a medium-sized pot, we put the milk and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly to ensure that the sugar dissolves completely. It is essential to make sure that the milk does not boil, as we want a smooth and creamy mixture. Once the sugar has melted, we turn off the heat and add the lard. We gently mix until the lard is fully incorporated into the mixture, making it easier to work with the dough.

In a large bowl, we sift the flour to aerate it, then add the previously obtained liquid mixture. We use a spatula or a wooden spoon to combine the ingredients, being careful not to form lumps. Once the flour is incorporated, we add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Next, we extinguish the baking soda with a teaspoon of vinegar and add it to the dough. We continue to mix until we obtain a homogeneous ball of dough, which we let rest for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, we take care of the apple filling. We grate the apples and put them in a pan over medium heat, adding sugar and a few spices that inspire us, such as cinnamon or vanilla. We let the apples cook gently until they become soft and start releasing their natural juices, creating a fragrant and sweet mixture.

Once the filling is ready, we return to our dough. We divide the dough into uniformly sized rectangles. In the center of each rectangle, we place a spoonful of the apple filling and a bit of crushed walnut, which will add extra texture and flavor. We fold each rectangle, making sure the filling is well sealed, and press the edges with a fork to seal the pie.

We preheat the oven to a medium-low temperature and arrange the pies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. We bake the pies for 40-45 minutes until they turn golden and release their enticing aroma throughout the house. After taking them out of the oven, we let them cool slightly, then dust them with powdered sugar, which will give them an elegant and delicious appearance.

These apple pies are perfect to be served both warm and cold and are great alongside a cup of tea or coffee. Enjoy every bite!
