Cheese dumplings – a quick and simple dessert that brings a touch of nostalgia in every bite. These delicious dumplings are fluffy, filled with sweet cheese cream, and are perfect for moments when you want to impress without too much effort. Here’s how you can prepare them step by step.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 35 minutes
Number of servings: 4

Ingredients:

- 250 g cottage cheese (preferably well-drained)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (you can adjust to taste)
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons semolina
- A pinch of salt
- 1 liter of water
- 2 tablespoons butter (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
- Optional: vanilla essence or lemon zest to flavor the mixture

Instructions:

1. Preparing the filling: In a bowl, add the well-drained cottage cheese. Make sure it is as fine as possible, so there are no large chunks. Add the tablespoon of sugar, egg, the 3 tablespoons of semolina, and if desired, a splash of vanilla essence or lemon zest for extra flavor. Mix the ingredients well with a fork until you obtain a creamy and smooth mixture.

2. Forming the dumplings: Wet your hands with water to prevent the mixture from sticking. Using a wet spoon, take a portion of the cheese mixture and form balls the size of a walnut. Place them on a plate.

3. Boiling the dumplings: In a large pot, bring the water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt to the water, then carefully place the dumplings into the boiling water. Boil them over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until they rise to the surface. This is a sign that they are ready.

4. Serving: After boiling, remove the dumplings with a spatula and place them on a plate. You can melt them slightly in melted butter for a richer taste. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an attractive appearance and sweet taste.

Practical tips:

- Ingredients: Use high-quality cottage cheese to achieve a fine filling. Also, if you prefer a stronger taste, you can use feta cheese mixed with sweet cheese.
- Fruit version: Add some pieces of seasonal fruit, such as peaches or cherries, to the cheese mixture for a fresh note.
- Garnish: The dumplings can be served with sour cream or vanilla sauce for an extra flavor boost.

Cheese dumplings are not just a simple and quick dessert, but also a perfect way to indulge or bring a smile to the faces of your loved ones. Whether you choose to serve them at a festive meal or simply as a weekend snack, these cheese dumplings will surely become a staple recipe in your kitchen!
