Lenten Brownie

To prepare a delicious chocolate brownie, start by gathering the essential ingredients. In a large bowl, add 250 grams of flour, 200 grams of sugar, a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of baking soda, and 50 grams of high-quality cocoa powder. The cocoa will add a rich flavor and intense color to your cake, so don't skimp on quality. Mix these dry ingredients using a whisk or a silicone spatula, ensuring there are no lumps. It is important that all components are well combined to achieve an even and fluffy brownie. Once you have a homogeneous mixture, gradually add 250 ml of water, 100 ml of vegetable oil, 50 ml of vinegar (to help activate the baking soda), and 1 teaspoon of rum essence. These wet ingredients will bring moisture and flavor to your composition. Mix again patiently until you obtain a smooth paste that flows easily from the spatula, without visible lumps. If necessary, you can adjust the consistency by adding a little more water, but be careful not to make it too runny. Once the mixture is ready, prepare a baking tray, preferably 20x30 cm, which you can line with parchment paper or grease with oil and sprinkle with flour, as I did. This will help the brownie to release easily after baking. Pour the mixture into the tray, smoothing it out with a spatula to achieve a flat surface. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius and place the tray inside. Let it bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. After the brownie is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely in the tray on a rack. This step is essential to avoid crumbling the cake when you cut it. Once it has cooled, sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top for an elegant look and an extra hint of sweetness. Cut the brownie into squares or diamonds and enjoy each piece alongside a cup of coffee or a glass of milk. This simple yet delicious recipe will surely delight anyone who tries it!
