To prepare this delicious stuffed apple dish, the beginning is essential. The first step is to carefully wash the apples, choosing medium-sized ones suitable for stuffing. After washing them well, cut a small cap off the top of each apple, being careful not to cut them completely so they do not open. Using a special corer, gently remove the core of the apples, trying to keep the walls as intact as possible. If you do not have this tool, a teaspoon works well.

In a pan, add a few tablespoons of olive oil and let it heat over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes transparent and slightly golden. This will add a delicious flavor to the mixture. After the onion has sautéed, add the core of the apples you removed, cut into small cubes. This step will enhance the flavor of the dish.

The next ingredient that comes into play is minced meat, preferably pork or beef, but you can also opt for a combination of both. Use about 250-300 grams of meat to fill the six apples. Mix the ingredients well in the pan and sauté them until the meat turns whitish, indicating it is already cooked. At this point, add salt, pepper, nutmeg, and cloves, all finely ground. Be careful with the quantity, as these spices have very strong flavors. If desired, you can also add finely chopped parsley for extra freshness.

Once the filling is ready, start filling each apple, being careful not to overload them. Place the stuffed apples in a deep baking dish or oven-safe dish. Put the cap from each apple on top to retain juiciness. Around the apples, pour a mixture of tomato juice and a little oil, so that it covers about 3/4 of the height of the apples. This sauce will give a wonderful taste and will help cook the apples evenly.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven at a high temperature, allowing them to bake. It is important not to leave them too long to avoid the apples becoming too soft. After they have started to soften, remove the foil and let them brown a little, achieving a delicious golden crust. If you want to thicken the sauce, mix a little flour with a few tablespoons of sauce from the dish before pouring it over the apples to achieve a creamier consistency.

These stuffed apples are served warm, accompanied by the delicious sauce from the dish, and will surely impress any guest at your table. Enjoy every bite!
