Tiramisu - My Delicious Version
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Chilling time: 8 hours (ideally overnight)
Total time: 8 hours and 30 minutes
Number of servings: 8
Of course, Tiramisu is an iconic dessert, loved by everyone for its combination of creamy textures and sophisticated flavors. This version of the recipe is adapted to be more kid-friendly, without coffee, while still maintaining that delicious essence that captivates us all.
Ingredients
For the dessert:
- 500 grams of ladyfingers (about 2 packages)
- 500 grams of soft cheese (with a fat content between 5% and 9%)
- 1 vanilla pudding (preferably powder)
- 250 ml milk
- 250 ml whipping cream
For the syrup:
- 1 and 1/2 cups of milk
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon of chocolate liqueur (adjust to taste)
For decoration:
- 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1-2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
Preparation
1. Start by preparing the syrup. In a saucepan, heat the milk, being careful not to let it boil. Add the cocoa and the 2 tablespoons of sugar, mixing well to obtain a homogeneous composition.
2. Once the cocoa has completely dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate liqueur. The taste can be adjusted according to your personal preferences. If you want a more intense flavor, feel free to add a bit more liqueur.
3. In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the vanilla pudding with the milk and whipping cream. Mixing them until they become a fluffy cream is essential for achieving an airy and delicious texture.
4. Once the cream is ready, add the soft cheese and 2 tablespoons of the syrup you prepared earlier. Mix everything until it becomes a uniform cream.
5. Now, let’s assemble the Tiramisu! In a rectangular dish or Pyrex, place a layer of ladyfingers. Dip each ladyfinger in the prepared syrup, so they are moist but not soaked.
6. Over the first layer of ladyfingers, add a portion of the cream you prepared. Spread the cream evenly to ensure an even coverage. Repeat this process with another layer of ladyfingers followed by another layer of cream.
7. Finally, smooth out the remaining cream to achieve a nice appearance.
8. In a plate, mix the cocoa with the powdered sugar until homogeneous. Use a sieve to evenly sprinkle the cocoa and sugar mixture over the cream in the dish, giving the dessert an elegant look, similar to that of traditional Tiramisu.
9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and let the dessert chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, ideally overnight. This waiting time is crucial for the flavors to blend and for the dessert to achieve the perfect consistency.
10. The next day, the Tiramisu can be served! It is an easy-to-make dessert, perfect for any occasion, and great for being enjoyed by the whole family, including kids.
Useful tips
- If you want an even healthier version, you can use cottage cheese or ricotta instead of soft cheese, and the whipping cream can be replaced with Greek yogurt.
- If you don’t have chocolate liqueur on hand, you can use chocolate syrup or even a fruit syrup for a different note.
- For a more elegant presentation, you can serve Tiramisu in individual portions, especially if you have enough space in the fridge.
Frequently asked questions
1. Can I use coffee instead of chocolate liqueur?
Of course! If you want a more traditional flavor, you can replace the liqueur with strong coffee, but keep in mind that the dessert will no longer be recommended for children.
2. How long can Tiramisu be stored in the refrigerator?
Tiramisu keeps well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Make sure it is well covered to prevent absorbing other flavors.
3. Can I freeze Tiramisu?
I do not recommend freezing, as the consistency may change, but if you decide to do it, make sure to let it thaw completely before consuming.
Nutrition and benefits
This version of Tiramisu has a moderate calorie content, due to the cheese and cream used. Each serving has about 350-400 calories, depending on the exact ingredients used. The soft cheese provides a good source of protein, and the whipping cream adds an extra energy boost, but make sure to consume it in moderation.
