Homemade Raffaello Candy Recipe

Who doesn't love a delicious dessert that reminds us of childhood? Raffaello candies are those little gems of sweets, with a refined taste that tempt us every time. Although there are commercial variants, today I invite you to discover a simple and quick recipe to make them at home, just like our Ancuța, aka Postavaru, does.

Total preparation time: 45 minutes
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooling time: 30 minutes
Number of servings: 20-25 candies

Necessary ingredients:

- 150 g milk powder
- 125 g powdered sugar (or 100 g for a less sweet version)
- 100 g soft butter (at room temperature)
- 100 g shredded coconut + 20 g for rolling the candies
- Chocolate candies filled with raisins (or almonds, hazelnuts, according to preference)
- 20 ml boiled water (optional, for better consistency)

A few details about the ingredients:

- Milk powder: This is the base of the recipe. Choose a quality milk powder, as it will influence the final taste.
- Powdered sugar: If you prefer a less sweet taste, adjust the amount. Powdered sugar dissolves more easily and gives a fine texture.
- Butter: It is essential that it is soft, so it incorporates easily into the mixture. Make sure to take it out of the fridge about an hour before preparation.
- Shredded coconut: This not only brings a tropical flavor but also a pleasant texture. You can also use toasted coconut for a more intense taste.
- Chocolate candies: Opt for fillings you like. You can experiment with various types of fillings, such as caramel or chocolate with nuts.

Step by step for a perfect result:

1. Preparing the ingredients: Start by gathering all the ingredients on a work surface. Make sure the butter is soft, and the milk powder and powdered sugar are within reach.

2. Mixing the composition: In a large bowl, add the soft butter, powdered sugar, and milk powder. Use your hands to mix the ingredients. It is important to combine them well so that you obtain a homogeneous paste. If you choose to add boiled water, now is the time to incorporate it.

3. Forming the candies: Once you have obtained a homogeneous mixture, take a teaspoon of the mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a chocolate candy in the center and shape the mixture around it, forming a ball. Make sure the candy is well covered.

4. Rolling in coconut: After you have formed all the balls, roll them in the remaining shredded coconut. This step not only gives them an attractive appearance but also adds a hint of flavor.

5. Cooling: Store the candies on a plate in a dark, cool place. It is recommended to let them rest for 30 minutes to firm up. This waiting time will help stabilize the shape and enhance the flavors.

6. Serving: You can enjoy these delicious Raffaello candies immediately, but they are even better after they have been chilled for a while. You can serve them as a dessert at a dinner with friends or as a sweet snack at any time of the day.

Useful tips:

- Variations: You can experiment with various fillings to vary the taste. You can use almonds or hazelnuts, or even chocolate with hazelnut cream.
- Caring for the mixture: If the mixture is too soft, add a little milk powder. If it is too hard, you can incorporate a little boiled water.
- Storage: The candies keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Nutritional benefits:

These candies are an excellent source of energy due to the coconut and sugar content. Coconut is rich in fiber and healthy fats, while milk powder provides protein. Of course, moderate consumption is essential to enjoy these treats without overdoing it.

Frequently asked questions:

- Can I replace milk powder with another ingredient? It is recommended to use milk powder to achieve the desired texture, but you can experiment with alternatives like almond powder, though the result will be different.
- Can I use other types of chocolate? Of course! You can use white, dark, or milk chocolate, depending on your preferences.
- How can I make the candies less sweet? Adjust the amount of powdered sugar or use fillings with a more intense flavor.

These homemade Raffaello candies are not only delicious but also a pleasant activity to do together with loved ones. So, invest a little time and love in making them, and you will get a dessert that will impress everyone! Gather your friends for a cooking night and create sweet memories together!
