Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 30 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Number of servings: 12

Ingredients

*For the 3 layers of cake:*
- 6 fresh eggs
- 300 ml milk
- 100 ml oil
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 200 g sugar
- 3 packets of vanilla sugar
- 5-6 tablespoons cocoa powder
- Almost 16 tablespoons flour
- Rum essence (to taste)

*For the chocolate cream:*
- 300 ml milk
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 package of butter (approximately 200 g)
- Rum essence (to taste)
- Zest of one orange

*For the vanilla cream:*
- 400 ml milk
- 50 g cornstarch
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 100 g white chocolate
- 100 g butter (at room temperature)
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 packets of vanilla sugar

*For decoration:*
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Chocolate cream (optional)

Preparation

*Step 1: Making the creams*

Start by preparing the chocolate cream, as it will need time to cool. In a saucepan, bring 300 ml of milk to a boil along with the sugar and 4 tablespoons of cocoa. Stir constantly to prevent lumps from forming. When the mixture starts to boil, slowly sprinkle in the flour while continuing to stir with a whisk. Cook until the cream reaches a consistency similar to sour cream, then add the butter and mix until completely melted. Let the cream cool, and when it is at room temperature, add the essence and orange zest.

Meanwhile, prepare the vanilla cream. In a bowl, mix the 4 tablespoons of sugar with the cornstarch. Add 200 ml of the 400 ml of milk and mix well. In the meantime, bring the remaining milk to a boil. When it starts to boil, add the white chocolate and stir until melted. Reduce the heat to low and add the cornstarch mixture, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until the cream thickens, then let it cool.

As the creams cool, you can work on the butter at room temperature, which you will mix with the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar. When the vanilla cream is cool, gradually incorporate it into the mixed butter. Divide the resulting cream into two equal parts.

*Step 2: Preparing the cake layers*

Now that the creams are ready, it's time to focus on the cake layers. In a large bowl, beat the eggs well with the vanilla sugar and regular sugar, adding it gradually. When the eggs are well beaten, add the milk and oil, a little at a time. Incorporate the flour mixed with baking powder and cocoa, mixing well until you obtain a homogeneous batter, similar to sour cream.

Divide the batter into 3 equal portions and pour each portion into a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake each layer at medium heat for the first 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes. Check with a toothpick to see if the layers are baked, then let them cool.

*Step 3: Assembling the cake*

Once the layers and creams have cooled, it's time to assemble the cake. Prepare a simple syrup from water and sugar or use natural fruit juice to soak the layers. Place the first layer of cake on a platter, soak it with the syrup, add a portion of the chocolate cream, and place the second layer of cake on top. Repeat the process with syrup and vanilla cream, then place the last layer of cake. Soak the final layer as well.

For an elegant finish, cover the cake with chocolate cream (or whipped cream, as preferred) and decorate it with grated chocolate or fresh fruit.

*Step 4: Chill and serve*

Let the cake sit in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving. During this time, the flavors will blend, and the layers will soak up the syrup, giving it a perfect texture. Treat yourself to a moment of indulgence with a glass of champagne or a fragrant tea.

Helpful tips:

- Use quality ingredients, especially when it comes to chocolate and butter, to achieve a cake with a refined taste.
- You can experiment with different flavors by adding almond or coffee essences to the creams.
- If you don't have time to prepare the cream, you can opt for store-bought creams, but the taste will definitely be better if you make them at home.

Nutritional benefits:

This cake, although delicious, is also a source of energy due to the sugar and healthy fats from the butter. Consumed in moderation, it can be part of a balanced diet, providing a necessary moment of indulgence from time to time.

Frequently asked questions:

1. Can I use whole wheat flour instead of white flour?
Yes, but the texture and taste of the cake will be different. Whole wheat flour will add a more rustic note.

2. How can I keep the cake fresh for a longer time?
I recommend keeping it in the refrigerator, covered or in an airtight container, to prevent drying out.

3. What other flavors can I add?
You can try lemon, coconut, or coffee flavors for a customized cake.

This royal cake will surely bring a smile to your face, and the preparation process will transform you into the true princess of the kitchen. Enjoy and celebrate in style!
