Cozonac is a traditional delicacy, and the simplified version I propose proves to be not only accessible but also easy to prepare without sacrificing taste. This recipe is perfect for those who want to enjoy a delicious cozonac without worrying about high calorie content or expensive ingredients. Using a bread machine for kneading and rising makes the process much simpler, saving time and effort.

To start, make sure you have all the ingredients on hand: wheat flour, fresh or dry yeast, sugar, milk, oil, salt, and eggs. These are the base of the dough, and for the filling, you can use ground nuts, cocoa, or even candied fruits, depending on your preferences. Add the dough ingredients to the bread machine in the correct order: liquids first, followed by dry ingredients, and the yeast should be last. Select the dough program and let the machine do its job, kneading and allowing the dough to rise.

Once the dough has risen, divide it into three equal parts, depending on the size of the pans you have. This is an important step, as each piece will be filled with delicious ingredients. The filling can vary, but a combination of ground nuts with a little sugar and vanilla essence will provide a wonderful taste. Roll out each piece of dough, add the desired filling, and roll tightly to form a log.

Before placing the cozonaci in the pans, prepare them properly. You can grease two of the pans with oil and dust them with flour, and for the third pan, use parchment paper. Carefully place each cozonac in the pan, then brush them with a beaten egg yolk to achieve a golden and appetizing crust at the end. Sprinkle coconut on top for a special appearance and taste.

Let the cozonaci rise in the pan for about thirty minutes, then you can place them in the preheated oven at a medium temperature. Bake them for an hour and a half, but don't forget to check them periodically to ensure they bake evenly. The aroma of freshly baked cozonac will fill the entire house, and in the end, you will enjoy a perfect dessert that can be savored with loved ones, along with a cup of tea or coffee. This simple cozonac recipe will surely become your favorite, offering a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

Ingredients: Dough: 300 ml milk, 3-4 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 egg, 750 g flour, 2-3 teaspoons of dry yeast (yeast for bread machine), vanilla, lemon and orange zest. Composition: I used a chocolate cream for cakes to which I added 2-3 tablespoons of ground walnuts, 2-3 tablespoons of ground almonds (I didn't add rum, the chocolate cream was flavorful enough). I also used 1 egg for brushing, large grated coconut.
