Orange Jelly
To prepare a refreshing and aromatic dessert, we start by heating water in a pot, gradually adding sugar. We constantly stir to ensure that the sugar dissolves completely until we obtain a light syrup, not too viscous. It is important not to let the syrup boil too much, so as not to alter its sweet and delicate flavor.
If we use gelatin, we have two options for preparing it. The first option is to dissolve it directly in the warm syrup, but for this, the gelatin must be of good quality and added gradually. The second, more common option is to soak it in cold water for about 5-10 minutes. After it has hydrated, we gently squeeze it to remove excess water and add it to the warm syrup. The gelatin will melt quickly, and the mixture will become homogeneous, ready to be flavored.
The next step is to add freshly squeezed orange juice, which will give the dessert a vibrant note and an unmistakable aroma. It is recommended to strain the juice to remove pulp and seeds, ensuring a fine texture. Once the mixture is well homogenized, it's time to carefully pour it into cups or dessert molds. We ensure that each portion receives an even amount, so that each tasting is equally delicious.
Once the cups are filled, we place them in the refrigerator for a few hours, ideally between 4 and 6 hours, to allow the gelatin to set properly. This cooling time is essential to achieve a perfect texture, and the dessert will become firm and refreshing.
After the cooling time has elapsed, the dessert can be served. If we used molds, we can carefully invert them onto plates, and if we opted for cups, we can serve them directly. For an extra touch of flavor, we can add a generous layer of whipped cream on top, which will perfectly complement the fresh flavor of the oranges. This dessert is not only delicious but also easy to prepare, ideal for a warm day or to impress guests at an elegant dinner. Enjoy every spoonful of this delicacy, full of freshness and goodness!
