Cuban Slice (Cuban Roll)

To prepare a delicious stuffed pork chop recipe, we start by choosing quality pork, which will add a special flavor to the dish. The chop is cut into thicker slices, being careful not to make them too thin, so they can be properly stuffed. Once we have the desired slices, we gently pound them to make them thin and tender. An efficient and clean method is to pound them between two plastic bags, thus avoiding splattering around and preventing the meat fibers from breaking. After we have pounded the slices, we salt and pepper them on both sides to enhance the flavors. Now comes the fun part – stuffing the meat. On each slice of chop, we carefully place a slice of ham, followed by a slice of cheese, and for a touch of sweetness and freshness, we add half a slice of pineapple. This combination of ingredients will give the dish a unique and delightful flavor. After preparing the filling, we roll each slice of meat, making sure to close the ends, similar to a cabbage roll, to prevent the filling from leaking out during frying. The formed rolls are then dusted with flour, dipped in beaten egg, and finally coated with breadcrumbs. This procedure will ensure a crispy and golden crust that will delight the taste buds. In a deep pan, we heat the oil and fry the rolls on all sides until they become golden and crispy. It is important not to overcrowd the pan to allow for even frying. Once they are ready, we remove the rolls onto a paper towel to absorb the excess oil. They are served hot, alongside a side of crispy French fries, which we can sprinkle with a little cheese for added flavor. If we want to experiment, we can replace the ham with bologna and omit the pineapple, thus obtaining a delicious Gordon Bleu, which is equally tasty. This dish is perfect for both a family dinner and a festive meal, being appreciated by everyone. Enjoy your meal!
