Ginger lemonade with no sugar

Ginger lemonade with no sugar gets its aroma from lemon zest, but grate only the yellow part, since the white pith can taste bitter. It’s made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, mineral water and Green Sugar, while the ice keeps it cold without changing the taste too much. I slice the ginger thinly and add just a few pieces to the pitcher, so the flavor stays to my liking. Preparation: 10 minutes. Cooking: 1 minute. Total time: 11 minutes. Servings: 6 glasses. Approximately 10 kcal and 0 g protein per serving.
Ingredients
- 1500 ml mineral water
- 1 lemon (zest)
- 4 lemons (juice)
- 30 g Green Sugar sweetener
- 10 g fresh ginger
- 6 ice cubes
- 1 lemon (6 slices for garnish)
Preparation
1. Wash the lemons. Zest one of the four lemons, juice all four, and cut the lemon for garnish into 6 slices. Prep takes about 10 minutes. 2. Put the mineral water, lemon zest, juice, Green Sugar, ginger and ice cubes in a blender. Chop the ginger and blend for 1 minute, until smooth. If you don’t have a blender, stir vigorously in a pitcher. 3. Add the lemon slices for garnish and serve the lemonade cold.
Notes
With a cheese sandwich, the tart flavor and ginger go together better than with something very sweet. For juicing, choose lemons that feel heavy for their size, with firm skin. Small or dried-out lemons may yield less juice, and the drink will taste more intense if you don’t adjust it with water. Thin slices of ginger release their flavor gradually, while thick slices make the lemonade hotter. Sometimes the blender makes a lot of foam when the mineral water is sparkling; let it settle before pouring. As with classic lemonade, you can adjust the sweetness to taste by adding sweetener a little at a time. Keep the pitcher covered in the fridge if you make it ahead, and add the ice only when you bring it to the table. For the version with sugar, use 30 g, the same amount as Green Sugar, and stir until it dissolves.
