Quail Eggs, Boiled
Boiled eggs are a delicious and versatile snack, perfect for any meal of the day. Before starting the cooking process, it is essential to ensure that the eggs are clean. Wash them carefully under a stream of cold water, making sure to remove any impurities from the shell. If you notice persistent stains, gently rub them with fine salt, which will act as a gentle abrasive, helping to clean them without damaging them.
Once the eggs are clean, carefully place them in a suitable pot and add cold water, enough to completely cover them. Once the eggs are covered, add a teaspoon of salt to the water; this will not only enhance the flavor of the eggs but will also help prevent the shells from cracking during boiling. Place the pot on the stove and let it sit on medium heat, being careful not to leave it unattended.
When the water starts to boil, it's time to start timing. If you prefer soft eggs, let them boil for just 30 seconds. This short time will ensure a creamy texture, with a slightly runny yolk, perfect for a comforting breakfast. If, on the other hand, you want hard-boiled eggs, continue boiling them for 5 minutes. This interval will provide a well-cooked yolk, yet still moist and full of flavor.
After the time is up, immediately remove the eggs from the pot using a spatula and transfer them under a stream of cold water. This step is crucial, as quickly stopping the cooking process will prevent overcooking, keeping the eggs perfectly cooked. Let them sit under cold water for a few moments, then place them on a kitchen towel to dry.
To serve, gently cut the shell of the eggs with a knife or spoon, being careful not to break them. Sprinkle a little celery salt or sea salt on top, which will add extra flavor and highlight the natural taste of the egg. Boiled eggs are excellent alongside a slice of toast or as part of a salad, making for a healthy and tasty choice. Enjoy them while they are warm, savoring their perfect texture and unmistakable flavor!
