Oat Flake Burgers (Vegan)
To prepare a delicious oatmeal burger recipe, start by cleaning, washing, and finely chopping the onion, garlic, and pepper. These ingredients will add extra flavor and texture to our dish. In a large pot, bring water to a boil, adding your favorite spices, such as salt, pepper, sweet or hot paprika, depending on your preferences. When the water starts to boil, add the chopped onion and let it boil for about 2 minutes. This will release the essential oils and start to soften. After 2 minutes, add the chopped pepper and continue to cook the mixture for 3 minutes. At this point, add the oatmeal, which will absorb the flavored liquid and contribute to the burgers' consistency.
Let the mixture boil for 5 minutes, stirring continuously to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pot. This process will allow the oatmeal to hydrate and become fluffier. Once you have finished boiling, remove the pot from the heat and add the ground nuts, which will provide a crunchy note and an intense flavor to the dish. Season with the remaining ingredients, ensuring everything is well homogenized. Cover the mixture and let it sit for 30 minutes, so the oatmeal can swell and soften, forming a slightly moldable mass.
After the mixture has rested, you can grease your hands with a little oil to prevent sticking. Form spheres from the mixture that you gently flatten to achieve the desired burger shapes. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven and bake the burgers at a moderate heat for 15 minutes on one side until a nice golden crust forms. After carefully flipping them, leave them in the oven for another 15 minutes on the other side to achieve a perfect texture.
For serving, choose fresh buns and place a crisp lettuce leaf, onion rings, and juicy tomato slices on each half.
