Crispy Bows
If the dough is frozen, it is essential to let it thaw completely before starting preparation. This step is crucial for achieving an optimal texture. Once the dough is soft and easy to handle, start by rolling it out on a clean surface dusted with a little flour to prevent sticking. Use a rolling pin to achieve an even sheet, about 3-4 mm thick.
On one half of the dough sheet, evenly sprinkle grated cheese, making sure not to leave any empty spots, as each bite should be full of flavor. Add oregano to taste; this spice will bring an unmistakable aroma to the dish. Then, lay thinly sliced salami or sausage over the layer of cheese. These ingredients will provide a savory taste and pleasant texture.
After you have filled one half of the dough, brush the empty edges of the sheet with water. This step will help seal the two halves of the dough, preventing the filling from spilling during baking. Cover with the filled half, pressing firmly to eliminate air between the sheets. It is important that the dough is well sealed to achieve a perfect crust.
Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 2-3 cm wide. Each strip will be twisted several times, creating an attractive appearance and a crispy texture. Place the strips on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them to bake evenly.
If desired, you can brush the strips of dough with a beaten egg, which will give a golden color and an appetizing shine. Also, sprinkle a little grated cheese on top for added flavor. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Once the oven is hot, place the tray inside and avoid opening the door in the first five minutes of baking to maintain a constant temperature.
After five minutes, reduce the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius and let the strips bake for about 20 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crispy. The flavors will blend perfectly, and each bite will be an explosion of taste. Finally, serve warm and enjoy a delicious appetizer, perfect for any occasion!
