Pasta/Pizza - Calzone Pizza by Bianca D. - Recipia
Who would refuse a hot and flavorful pizza, especially on a rainy or chilly day? Certainly not many! I suggest you prepare a delicious pizza at home, with a perfect crust and toppings to your liking. Additionally, making pizza dough at home is a satisfying experience, and the taste will be much better than store-bought.

Total preparation time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
Baking time: 30-35 minutes
Number of servings: 4

Necessary ingredients:

*For the crust:*
- 500 g flour (ideally type 00 flour, which is fine and gives a very good texture)
- 250 ml lukewarm water
- 1 packet of dry yeast (about 7 g)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar (helps activate the yeast)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil (for an extra flavor)

*For the filling:*
- 3 tablespoons of ketchup (or pizza sauce, if you prefer)
- 200 g pressed ham or salami (as fresh as possible for an authentic taste)
- 200 g mozzarella (or cheese, depending on preferences)
- 200 g canned mushrooms (or fresh, if you want a more intense flavor)
- Oregano, to taste (for an extra touch of flavor)
- 1/2 onion, chopped (optional, but adds a note of sweetness)

Preparing the crust:
1. Mixing the ingredients: In a large bowl, sift the flour to aerate it. Add the salt, olive oil, and dry yeast. Mix the dry ingredients well, then gradually add the lukewarm water. It is important that the water is lukewarm, not hot, so as not to kill the yeast.

2. Kneading the dough: Using your hands or a mixer with a dough hook, knead the mixture for about 10 minutes, until you obtain an elastic and non-sticky dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a little extra flour, but avoid adding too much.

3. Letting the dough rise: Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour. If you are in a hurry, you can skip this step, but a risen dough will have a fluffier texture.

Shaping the pizza:
4. Dividing and rolling out the dough: Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal parts. Take each piece and roll it out with a rolling pin on a floured surface until you obtain a disc about 25 cm in diameter.

5. Adding the sauce and filling: On half of each disc, spread with ketchup or pizza sauce, leaving the edge free. Add grated mozzarella, pieces of ham, chopped mushrooms, onion, and a little oregano. Finally, sprinkle some more mozzarella and a splash of pizza sauce on top.

6. Folding the pizza: Cover the filling with the free side of the dough and seal the edges well by pressing or gently rolling the dough to enclose the filling.

Baking the pizza:
7. Preparing for the oven: With a brush, spread diluted ketchup or olive oil on top of the dough. This will give it a golden color and add a pleasant taste.

8. Baking: Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place the pizza on a tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the dough is golden and crispy.

Serving and variations:
Once the pizza is ready, let it cool for a few minutes, then cut it into slices. A delicious suggestion would be to sprinkle some grated parmesan on top for an extra flavor.

Useful tips:
- If you want a spicier pizza, add a little chili pepper to the filling.
- Experiment with various ingredients, such as olives, bell peppers, or different types of cheese, to create new and surprising combinations.
- Pizza can be served with a fresh green salad or a yogurt sauce for a fresh contrast.

Nutritional information:
This calzone pizza recipe offers a protein-rich meal due to the cheese and ham and is a good source of carbohydrates from the flour. Considering the ingredients, one serving has approximately 350-400 calories, but this can vary depending on the filling and the amount of oil used.

Frequently asked questions:
- Can I use whole wheat flour? Yes, but keep in mind that the texture will be different, and the pizza will be denser.
- What other fillings can I use? Anything you like! Mozzarella with fresh tomatoes and basil is a classic combination, and grilled chicken with BBQ sauce can be a delicious choice.
- How long can it be stored? Pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days, and to reheat it, use the oven to keep the crust crispy.

Now that you have all the necessary details to prepare a delicious calzone pizza, all that's left is to enjoy it with your loved ones. Cooking is not just a necessity, but also an art form and a way to create pleasant memories! Bon appétit!
