To prepare a delicious dish with potatoes and vegetables, we start by carefully preparing the ingredients. The first step is to wash the potatoes well, as we will use their skin to add texture and flavor. After washing them, we cut them into slices about 1 cm thick, so they cook evenly. Once we finish with the potatoes, we turn our attention to the other ingredients.

The ham is cut into larger pieces to provide an intense flavor and a special aroma to our dish. The onion, essential in many recipes, is peeled and diced, while the pepper is finely sliced. The tomatoes, which we peeled earlier, will add juiciness and a fresh taste. All these ingredients are mixed in a large bowl, where we also add our favorite spices: salt, pepper, sweet or hot paprika, and maybe a little thyme. The mixture should be homogeneous, so that each ingredient is well coated with spices.

After obtaining a uniform mixture, we take a deep baking dish in which we place a layer of potato slices, followed by a generous layer of our vegetable and ham mixture. We continue to alternate the layers until the end, ensuring that the last layer is the vegetable one. We cover the dish with aluminum foil, so that all the flavors concentrate inside during baking. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the dish in the oven for about 30-40 minutes. It is important to check from time to time, as each oven is different and we want to make sure the food cooks evenly.

When the time is up and the dish is cooked, we carefully remove the aluminum foil, being cautious of the steam that will escape. As soon as the food is hot, we can grate a generous layer of cheese on top, which will melt and provide a delicious crust. Finally, for an extra touch of freshness, we add finely chopped greens, such as parsley or dill, to taste.

This dish can be served as is or as a side dish to a juicy steak, bringing a touch of naturalness and flavor to the plate. It is a perfect meal for a family gathering or to impress friends at a dinner. Enjoy your meal!
